1.
Mental Health and Drug & Alcohol Awareness Training
For all employees, this 90 minute course introduces learning about mental health and substance misuse and the relevance of these problems to the construction industry.
The training explores the definition of mental health, common diagnoses and considers how a relationship of poor mental health can often co-exist with the use of drugs and/or alcohol. Learning includes a thorough examination of how to recognise the signs and symptoms of poor mental health, problematic substance misuse and understanding contributing circumstances to these issues.
2.
Drug and Alcohol Awareness Training
For companies that already have staff learning about mental health in place, this course can complement existing provision and introduces learning on drugs and alcohol and their relevance to the construction industry.
This 90 minutes training course, provides good knowledge about drugs and alcohol, including recommended amounts of alcohol and classification of substances. The course explores the desirable and undesirable effects of drugs and alcohol, with an in-depth focus given to the signs and symptoms of problematic use. Time is taken to consider the reasons as to why someone would use more substances than they would like to, which lends attention to ‘self medicating’ mental health problems.
Both of the above courses close with understanding physical, mental and emotional wellbeing and how wellbeing contributes to good mental health. All atteendees will be encouraged to join Construting Wellbeing's FaceBook page for continued information, releveant posts and sign posting suggestions. Any attendee who does not use Facebook, will be given information on how to access Constructing Wellbeing's 'useful links' page.
